Guest“As the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party, I am providing a recommendation letter to show our support for the candidate pair, Mr. Ahmad Ali and Mr. Abdul Karim Aljufri, as governor and deputy governor candidates for Central Sulawesi for 2024-2029,” stated PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep at the PSI Central Executive Board, Central Jakarta, Friday (June 7, 2024)
Do not instantly share received or obtained information, particularly on social media. Perform checks and verification to ensure the information’s accuracy, including examining the source’s credibility and the website domain’s validity if there is a specific link within the information. Voters can also confirm through official channels or authorities, as well as trusted fact-check channels and media. To aid in the search and fact-checking process, use simple verification tools. Remember that hoax information can be in text form as well as visual, such as images (photos) or videos. Thus, as informed voters, it’s essential to verify thoroughly, especially if the information includes manipulated images or videos out of context. Utilize verification tools like Google Reverse Image Search or Yandex to examine the image source or its previous versions, including the image’s context.
The goal is none other than to mislead voters, ultimately causing division within society. In the coming period, the public will be holding the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections (Pilkada). Much like the general elections, the Pilkada is also a target for hoax distribution. According to Fact Check Hub, here are some tips to avoid political hoaxes, especially for voters participating in the upcoming 2024 Pilkada.
As the election approaches, hoax spreaders will disseminate misleading information to discredit each candidate. Therefore, conduct thorough research on each candidate before making a choice. Simply use the Google search engine by entering the candidate’s name or simple keywords, such as “Candidate for Governor of Region X 2024” in the search box and search. This helps voters understand each candidate’s profile objectively and aids in making informed decisions. As smart voters, the public should also beware of fake polls. Often, influencers and buzzers on social media spread fake polls or vote results on social media. Such polls are often inaccurate because they are designed solely to attract engagement. Therefore, voters must always be vigilant.
nAdditionally, the voter base of the Ali-Abdul pair also became a consideration for PSI in giving the recommendation to the pair . “Even though we have many potential cadres in Central Sulawesi, we must be realistic, this pair is the strongest and aligns with us, so why not,” said Kaesang
Additionally, in Central Sulawesi, aside from economic issues that are also major concerns for national leadership such as basic necessities prices and job opportunities, infrastructure conditions are a primary concern for residents, especially damaged roads, frequent power outages, and clean water availability. Candidates seen by residents as solutions to these problems have a higher likelihood of being chosen
The study conducted by ICRC was performed in the Jambi region, covering 11 municipalities. ICRC Executive Director H. Suprapto Rusli clarified that the aim of the survey was to assess the chances of the 2024 candidates for governor. The results, according to Hadi, show that the incumbent Governor of Jambi, has static popularity compared to the candidate for governor, Hariyanto Romi. “The options for governor candidates (open/spontaneous question) are A. Haris 21.9%, R. Hariyanto 12.0%, C. Endra 11.4%, Mashuri 5.5%, Fasha Syarif 2.9%, and so on, with 45% undecided,” said Hadi during the publication of the Jambi Pilkada 2024 survey results through a written statement on Tuesday.
nThe survey population includes all Indonesian citizens in Central Sulawesi who have the right to vote, namely those aged 17 or older, or those who are married when the survey is conducted . The sample was drawn using the multistage random sampling method . The sample size in this survey is 1,200 individuals. Assuming a simple random sampling method, a sample size of 1,200 respondents has a margin of error of ± 2.9% at a 95% confidence level . The samples come from all districts/cities in Central Sulawesi, proportionally distributed
