Employment and Case Closure

A successful employment outcome is achieved when:

  • the participant has achieved the employment outcome described in the IPE;
  • the employment outcome is consistent with the participant’s strengths, resources, priorities, concerns, abilities, capabilities, interests, and informed choice;
  • the employment outcome is in the most integrated setting possible, consistent with the participant’s informed choice;
  • the participant is compensated at or above the minimum wage and receives at least the customary wage and benefit level paid to other employees performing similar work for the same employer;
  • employment has been maintained for a minimum of 90 consecutive days; and
  • the employer, participant, and VR counselor consider the employment placement and participant performance satisfactory.

To support the participant in achieving a successful employment outcome, the VR counselor will:

  • provide assistance and accommodations to the participant to achieve employment goals;
  • provide counseling and guidance;
  • address impediments to employment;
  • assist participant in obtaining, maintaining, or retaining employment;
  • verify that the employment outcome is consistent with IPE employment goal(s);
  • verify that the employment is in a competitive and integrated setting;
  • determine that the employment outcome is maintained for a period of 90 consecutive days; and
  • confirm that the participant is satisfied with the employment outcome.

  1. Participant employment goal achieved.
  2. Participant achieved 90 consecutive days of employment in job placement.
  3. Successful participant closure document completed.
  4. All IPE services are provided and documented in case notes.
  5. Successful closure justification case note placed in case file.
  6. Supporting documentation of employment placed in case file.
  7. Case closure letter mailed to participant.
